Managing EMS Officer Flyer

The Managing EMS Officer operates in an upper management capacity.  This position is developed and based off of the National EMS Management Association Officer Competencies for a Managing EMS Officer.  The ideal candidate for this position will support exceptional clinical operations by independently planning, implementing, controlling, improving and evaluating all aspects in their span of control as an individual and part of the management team.  An ideal candidate has strong, demonstrable experience in EMS operations and education.  Depending on operational needs, the management team of Bennington Rescue operates in a clinical capacity in the field.

 Position: Managing EMS Officer

Status: Full Time (Exempt) (1.0 FTE)

Shift: Primarily Days, However Days and Shifts may vary based on operational needs


  • Bachelor’s Degree in EMS, Education, Management, Business, Quality, Public Health, or related field.
  • Prehospital Certification /License (EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic)
  • Ability to obtain National Registry certification and Vermont Department of Health EMS licensure within 3 months of offer
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a EMS Provider
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 (ICS 300 and 400 may be obtained within 6 months of hire)
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive management experience
  • 3+ years of Supervising EMS Officer Level Experience


  • Master’s Degree in EMS, Public Health, Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Instructor Credentials in Specialty Courses (ACLS, PALS, PEPP, PHTLS, AMLS, etc.)
  • Paramedic or Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C, FP-C, or UMBC CCEMTP)
  • Experience in Education, Instruction, and Program Development and Implementation
  • Experience in Staff Management and Human Resources
  • Experience in Scheduling, Operations, System Management
  • 5+ years of progressively successful supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of Managing EMS Officer level Experience (Leading/managing other supervisors or equivalent)
  • Certification and/or working knowledge of quality and/or efficiency programs. (Six Sigma, LEAN, etc.)

Our mission focuses on Patient Care, however that is not all that we do. We have a team of Administration, Educators, Billing Specialists, and Customer Service Representatives that ensure that all the necessary functions of the business are operational so that Ambulances are able to provide the services you need. Our billing office provides exceptional service and efficiency in claims billing and reimbursement, and provides billing for other EMS agencies.

  • Staff Interview
