“I am alive because of Bennington Rescue”
Tim Davis – Cardiac Arrest Survivor and North Bennington Resident

Bennington Rescue is the primary provider for emergency medical services (EMS) for Bennington, North Bennington, Shaftsbury, Woodford, and surrounding areas providing lifesaving emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week regardless of ability to pay. In 2015, Bennington Rescue responded to over 6,000 calls with highly trained
professionals, saving countless lives.

Despite the critical services that Bennington Rescue provides, insurance and government reimbursements do not pay enough to cover the cost of the service. As a result, Bennington Rescue loses an average of $34 on each call. Bennington Rescue provided over $1,000,000 worth of uncompensated care last year.

Bennington Rescue is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) agency that has been recognized for the quality of care that it provides. Recent awards and service statistics include:

  • The American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline Silver EMS Quality Achievement Award for excellence in cardiac care – Bennington Rescue was the
only EMS agency in Vermont to receive the Silver level award.
  • Recognition from the Vermont Commissioner of Health for Bennington Rescue’s efforts to improve local health through its Community Paramedicine Initiative.
  • Over 300 individuals being trained in CPR and/or First Aid in 2015.
  • Leading the statewide development of a Fallscape program, with the goal to reduce falls and fall risk in the elderly.
