We are hiring for full-time (3 x 12-hr shifts a week) or part-time (2 x 12-hr shifts a week).

  • Current NREMT-certification is required for Paramedics, AEMTs, or EMTs.

  • Critical Care Paramedic requires UMBC CCEMTP or IBSC CCP-C / FP-C in addition to NREMT.

  • If available, EMS Intern or EMT Apprentice have no prior EMS training required.


INTERVIEW PROCESS

Interview with Crew – All candidates will meet with members of the Bennington Rescue operations and administrative crew in a group setting. This includes field level EMT, AEMTs, Paramedics, Officers, and Billing Specialists. Certain positions have additional requirements to assess knowledge or skills.

SCHEDULES

Please note that for the safety of our clinical crew members (EMT Apprentice, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), the base full-time schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week. We do not work 24-hour shifts.

  • All crew may be assigned to night, afternoon, or day shifts - we perform periodic schedule adjustments balancing employee requests with operational needs every 3 - 6 months.

  • Full-time crew members work 2 weekend shifts per 2-week pay period (weekend is Fri night - Sun night)

  • All crew work holidays that fall on their normal schedule at premium pay rate, current list of holidays include:

    • Washington’s Birthday (President’s Day - 3rd Monday in Feb)

    • Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)

employee health requirements

Due to the vulnerable patient and student populations Bennington Rescue works with, employee health screening, immunization history, and screening are required if an employment (paid or volunteer) offer is extended. Requirements are subject to change - currently include:

  • Proof of current immunizations immunity status for influenza (depending on season) & COVID-19. EMT apprentices and future AEMT/paramedic students also need TDaP, MMR, 2-step PPD, Hepatitis B, etc. to qualify for clinical time in our partner hospitals.

  • Employee health exam by our occupational health provider that the employee is physically fit for the expectations of the position (shown below).

  • Failure to comply with health requirements excludes an individual from employment (paid or volunteer) with Bennington Rescue. Medical exemptions due to severe reactions may be considered on a case-by-case basis with healthcare provider certification. No other exemptions are accepted.

substance-free workplace

We are a tobacco, nicotine, and controlled substance-free workplace. The use of tobacco or nicotine containing products, including vape/e-cigarettes, THC containing products, smokeless tobacco, etc. is not allowed on the grounds of the station, in or around BRS vehicles, or while on duty at all.

Vermont also has presumption laws for infectious disease & lung injury for first responders. Use of tobacco or nicotine containing products excludes first responders (including EMS) from those workers’ compensation or line of duty death benefits.

BENNINGTON RESCUE BENEFITS

DIFFERENTIALS & SUPPLEMENTAL PAY

  • Night Differential $1 per hour

  • Weekend Differential $2 per hour (weekend night shift work receives a $3 per hour differential)

  • Degree Pay for Associate, Bachelor, or Graduate Degrees

  • Position Pay for Coordinators, Field Training Officers, Lieutenants, & Captains

FULL TIME BENEFITS

additional EDUCATION benefits available

AEMT Education Support Program - EMTs at Bennington Rescue may apply to attend our AEMT education program. Time in class and clinical are paid hours with no cost to the EMT.

Paramedic Education Support Program - EMTs/AEMTs at Bennington Rescue may apply to attend an accredited paramedic program using our support program. This program includes a modified weekly schedule with 24-36 hours working plus 12 hours dedicated for class, studying, or clinical time (hours over 40 in a week paid at OT rate). This program includes stipends during the program for books, materials, etc. and after licensure for completing field training and remaining with Bennington Rescue.
