NO TRANSPORT BILLING

Why You Received a Bill Without Being Transported

If you received medical services from our ambulance crew or first responder but were not transported to the hospital, still receive a bill. We understand this can be confusing, so we’d like to clarify why these charges apply.

What You’re Being Billed For

When our crew arrives at your location, they provide immediate care, which may include:

  • A medical assessment and evaluation

  • Monitoring of vital signs

  • A physical examination

  • Professional medical judgment and indicated care

These actions are considered billable medical services, even if you decline or do not require transport to a hospital.

Why There’s a Charge Without Transport

Even if transportation doesn't occur, responding to your emergency involves:

  • Deployment of a fully equipped ambulance or quick response vehicle

  • Use of specialized medical equipment

  • Time and expertise of licensed EMS clinicians (EMTs, Advanced EMTs, or paramedics)

These services involve significant operational costs, and we must to bill for the medical care delivered at the scene to attempt to recoup the costs of providing the service.

Your Right to Appeal

If you believe the charge is incorrect or unjustified, you have the right to appeal. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your coverage for non-transport emergency services. We also have a hardship process if you meet certain income requirements.
